Notion review
An all-in-one workspace for docs, wikis, projects and built-in AI
Notion is a connected workspace that combines documents, team wikis and flexible databases for projects and tasks, with Notion AI layered on top. Individuals can use the free plan without block limits, while teams pay per member for more collaboration, page history and admin controls. Full Notion AI requires the Business plan or higher. In our editorial view, it suits teams that want one adaptable tool rather than a dedicated wiki or a formula-driven doc builder.
Best for
- Startups and small teams building a shared wiki
- Individuals organizing notes, tasks and projects
- Teams that want docs and project tracking in one tool
- Teams ready to pay for AI built into their workspace

Pros and cons
Pros
- Combines docs, wikis and project databases in one workspace, with Notion Calendar available on every plan
- Free plan has no block limit for individuals working solo
- Database views, forms and charts let teams build custom trackers without code (Free is limited to basic forms and one chart)
- Any page can be published to the web with Notion Sites, on every plan
- Business plan includes Notion Agent, AI Meeting Notes and Enterprise Search (beta)
Cons
- Full Notion AI requires Business or Enterprise; Free and Plus get only a limited trial of Agent and meeting notes
- Free plan is tight for teams: block limit with 2+ members, 5 MB uploads, 7-day page history
- In our view, the blank-canvas flexibility means teams need to invest time in structure and conventions
- Audit log, SCIM provisioning and workspace analytics are reserved for Enterprise
Pricing
As of September 2026, Notion's pricing page lists a Free plan, Plus at $10 and Business at $20 per member per month billed yearly ($12 and $24 billed monthly), and Enterprise at custom pricing through sales. Custom Agents on Business and Enterprise are billed separately through Notion credits. Eligible teams may get a 30-day Business trial. Check the official Notion pricing page for current prices and terms.
Frequently asked questions
Is Notion free?
Yes. Notion's free plan includes unlimited pages and blocks for individuals, up to 10 guests, file uploads up to 5 MB each and 7 days of page history. Workspaces with two or more members have a block limit; once it is reached, existing content stays readable and editable, but adding new blocks requires a paid plan.
Which Notion plan includes Notion AI?
Full Notion AI, including Notion Agent, AI Meeting Notes and Enterprise Search, is part of the Business and Enterprise plans. Free and Plus workspaces get only a limited trial of Notion Agent and AI meeting notes. On Business and Enterprise, Custom Agents are free to try and then require Notion credits, so check the official pricing page for current rates.
Notion vs Confluence: which is better for a team wiki?
It depends on your stack. Confluence organizes knowledge in spaces and page trees, also offers databases, and pairs closely with Jira and Atlassian's Rovo AI on paid plans, which suits teams already on Atlassian tools. Notion blends wiki pages with databases, project tracking and web publishing in one flexible workspace. Both offer free plans, with Confluence's covering up to 10 users.
How does Notion compare with Coda?
Coda was renamed Superhuman Docs on July 8, 2026. It centers on docs with tables, formulas, Packs and automations, and bills only Doc Makers, so editors and viewers are free. New customers now get it as part of Superhuman's bundle plans. Notion bills per member and bundles wikis, databases, Sites publishing and Notion Calendar. In our view, formula-heavy builders may lean toward Coda.
Does Notion offer a free trial of its paid plans?
Notion's help center describes a 30-day Business plan trial that some teams may be eligible for. It requires a professional email domain and must be started from the web or desktop app, and workspaces already on Business or Enterprise are not eligible. If you enter payment details, the plan auto-renews unless you cancel. You can also test the core product on the Free plan before paying.
Our verdict
In our editorial view, Notion is a strong option for startups and small-to-midsize teams that want docs, wikis and lightweight project tracking in one adaptable workspace. The free plan is a low-risk way to start, and for many small teams Plus may be enough. If AI is central to your workflow, budget for Business, since Free and Plus include only a limited trial. Teams invested in Jira may find Confluence a more natural fit, while builders of formula-driven docs may prefer Coda, now Superhuman Docs. We think Notion strikes an appealing balance of flexibility and polish for everyday knowledge work.
